At Iceni, we're totally focused on individuality and providing a unique product for our customers. In that sense, it is virtually impossible for us to give a list of 'products', because no two drums we make are the same. We can use virtually any wood that the customer requests for the body: anything from maple to alder to rosewood. One customer even managed to find a spare set of banisters in a skip and requested that we build a drum body out of that (and people say that drummers are strange...).
As our products are based around customer request, the simplest way to give an idea as to the products we can create is to list the potential materials and brands that we can use to build your drums below:
Woods: Maple, Birch, Beech, Bubinga, Mahogany, Walnut, Oak, Ash and Rosewood are the main woods that we use. However, if you have a particular preference that isn't listed, we are happy to work with you on that.
Lugs, Foundries and Drumworks: There are over fifty different varieties of lugs and foundries available, and we're happy to use any of them. Rather than list the individual names, we feel that images of the different varieties would be a bit more helpful to anyone other than those with photographic memories for the names!. We recommend this link: http://pdgood.us/drumshed/lugcatalog.html as a great place to have a look around. If there's a particular shape or style that really leaps out at you, then we'll be happy to add them to your drums.
Drum Heads: There are many different companies that manufacture drum heads. Evans, Pearl, Premier, Aquarian and Yamaha to name but five. As a drummer, it's likely you'll already have chosen the brand that you trust and enjoy using the most. If this is the case, then just let us know as part of your specification, and we'll happily use whichever head you prefer as part of your instrument. Alternatively, if you're really not sure, we'll be happy to recommend the brand that we feel will bring the best performance and style to your drum.
If you'd like to discuss the potential for a particular combination of woods, skins or shells, or have a completely crazy idea and you're not sure if it would actually work in reality, contact us here, and we'll be happy to help. The way we see things, custom drums are limited only to the customer's imagination!
